BRITAIN’S most expensive houseboat is up for sale for £3.5million — 15 times the cost of an average UK home.
Matrix Island, which is 128ft long, has five bedrooms, four bathrooms, a winter garden, spa, sauna and jet ski platform. The 5,000sq ft floating pad also features a state-of-the-art kitchen and an atrium with a hanging wood burner.
The vessel, thought to be the largest floating home on the Thames, is moored at St Katharine Docks near Tower Bridge in London. It started life as a barge used to transport coal along the Seine in France in the 1930s before it was bought and renovated by a French filmmaker.
‘I’ve never seen anything like it, because there isn’t anything else like it. It’s like a five-star hotel,’ said Jason Taylor of Dexters, which is selling the boat. ‘I think the most impressive thing about it is the contemporary design with modern touches. You could get lost in it.’
