Brexit: Plans drawn for Queen to leave capital

COLD War plans to evacuate the Queen and other members of the royal family from London have been revived in case Brexit turns ugly, reports say.

‘These emergency evacuation plans have been in existence since the Cold War, but have now been repurposed in the event of civil disorder following a no-deal Brexit,’ a cabinet office source told The Sunday Times.

Civil unrest, gridlocked roads and food and medicine shortages have all been predicted if Britain crashes out of the EU on March 29. Officials say that in such a situation they are right to consider the threat of civil agitation and the safety of the monarch.

However, Conservative MP and keen supporter of Brexit Jacob Rees-Mogg told The Mail On Sunday plans to whisk royals away from the capital showed ‘unnecessary panic’, noting senior members of the family stayed in London during the Blitz in World War II.

Lovely rubbery, but could you find space for Maggie?
