TWO bodies have been found in a reservoir by police searching for a missing mother and her five-year-old son.
Police yesterday said they believed the bodies of Emma Sillett and her son Jenson Spellman had been found at the Valehouse reservoir, north Derbyshire.
Ms Sillett was last seen at a McDonald’s branch in Hattersley, Greater Manchester, on Tuesday. Police had appealed for information to contact the 41-year-old, of Dinting, Glossop, who was believed to have been with her son at the time.
Ms Sillett’s Peugeot 308 had been seen near the reservoir, not far from Tintwhistle, before the bodies were found. Although the inquiry is in its early stages, police said there was no indication anybody else was involved in the pair’s deaths.
Asst Ch Con Kem Mehmet, of Derbyshire police, said an extensive search had been carried out by specialist officers. ‘It is with great sadness, that the bodies of what are believed to be Emma and Jenson were located at Valehouse Reservoir earlier today,’ he added.
Mr Mehmet also passed on the force’s condolences to Ms Sillett’s family and friends. He said officers would remain in the area for some time and asked for anyone with information to come forward.
