FORMER Blue Peter presenter John Leslie made a ‘solid grab’ of a woman’s breasts at a Christmas party, leaving her ‘stunned’, a court heard.
The alleged victim said she recognised Leslie, 55, and had just introduced herself before he groped her in London’s West End on December 5, 2008.
‘He shook my hand and was smiling and then immediately thereafter he grabbed both of my breasts, one hand on each breast, quite firmly, and laughed,’ she told Southwark crown court. She said Leslie walked away laughing.
The woman said she told people, including her partner, but did not go to police because she did not think her claim would be taken seriously. She changed her mind in December 2017 after the #MeToo movement came to prominence. She said she feels ‘a bit older, a bit wiser’.
She added she did not think anyone else had seen the alleged incident, as she ‘wasn’t in a group scenario’. She denied a defence suggestion she ‘embellished’ the detail of how many people were in the room to ‘explain away’ the fact there were no witnesses.
Leslie denies sexual assault by intentionally touching the woman without her consent. The trial continues.
