CONTESTANTS on Germany’s version of Big Brother are to finally be told about the virus — after spending more than a month blissfully unaware of the crisis.
The majority of the housemates have been sealed off from the outside world in a studio building in Cologne since February 6, when the virus was largely confined to China.
Since then they have been largely unsuspecting about the tragedy and dramatic changes to everyday life outside its walls.
However, some contestants expressed puzzlement after failing to hear the usual sound of a cheering studio audience during evictions.
Programme-makers said they had made the decision to inform the group following talks with the families of those inside. Contestants will be allowed to ask questions about the situation and watch video messages of support from their loved ones during a special live programme tonight, reports said. The group, 14 men and women, are competing in Germany’s 13th season of the reality TV show.
