A NURSE who performed on Britain’s Got Talent was stabbed more than 70 times by her former soldier boyfriend in an ‘utterly terrifying’ attack, a court has heard.
Simonne Kerr, 31, ‘did not stand a chance’ when Desmond Sylva, who served in the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers in Iraq and Kosovo, came at her with an 8in kitchen knife, a jury at the Old Bailey was told. Sylva, 41, has admitted manslaughter but denies murder, claiming PTSD and depression impaired his mental function.
But the prosecution said he murdered Ms Kerr at his flat in Clapham, south London, on August 15 last year because he ‘lost his temper’.
Sylva called his brother to say he had just killed his girlfriend before alerting emergency services, the jury was told. In a 999 call, he said: ‘Can I have police please? I’ve just committed a murder. I’m ex-Army and I’ve got lots of mental health issues.’
Asked why he killed Ms Kerr, whose body was wrapped in a duvet, Sylva told police: ‘She just get on my nerves.’
Ms Kerr sang with the B Positive Choir, which reached last year’s BGT final.
The trial continues.
