Indian student Agniswar Ghosal, 23, beat all-comers with his picture of a green lynx spider feeding on a beetle in West Bengal. He said: ‘It’s a natural history moment — the story of a prey and a predator.’

Phil Jones, the society’s CEO, said: ‘The entries did not disappoint with a wonderful selection of stunning shots.’
