AFTER days of sizzling sunshine, June is set to end with rain, wind and weather warnings — clearing beaches that were packed last week.

The Met Office has issued yellow warnings for rain in parts of Northern Ireland, Scotland and the north of England until 3pm today, with 50mph winds in some places.

Disruption was expected as up to 50mm of rain was predicted, rising to 120mm across parts of Cumbria and Lancashire. In London yesterday, temperatures reached a maximum of 22C — compared to 33C just days earlier. Met Office forecaster Craig Snell said this week would be ‘much more unsettled and cooler’.
