Arsonist hurls homemade petrol bomb at cars in residential street

SHOCKING CCTV footage captures the moment an arsonist thug hurls a homemade petrol bomb at a car before it bursts into flames on a residential street.

The suspect can be seen launching the fire bomb which exploded dangerously close to a row of houses on Third Avenue in Bordesley Green, Birmingham.

The man was caught on camera walking along the road carrying the burning object before throwing it at a Honda Accord at around 5am on September 24.

But the petrol bomb bounced off the car and across the street where it engulfed another vehicle in a fireball as the assailant made his escape on foot.

Detectives say the same man then returned the following evening where he managed to successfully set the Honda alight with a second petrol bomb.

West Midlands Police have now released the terrifying footage and appealed for anyone with information to get in touch.

The force said: ‘Fortunately no one was injured in either of these incidents but significant damage was caused to the cars.

‘Although the footage is grainy, we hope someone has information on the attacks.’

Anyone with information can contact police via west-midlands.police.uk, call 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting log number 20BE/226195V/19.
