PEP GUARDIOLA hailed his Manchester City side after they returned to the top of the Premier League with a Sergio Aguero-inspired thumping of Chelsea.

In contrast, Blues boss Maurizio Sarri was left admitting his job was ‘at risk’.

Aguero scored a hat-trick, his record-equalling 11th in the top flight, as the Etihad mauling backed up City’s victories over Arsenal and Everton.

City boss Guardiola felt he got the right response after the shock 2-1 loss at Newcastle. He said: ‘We spoke to each other, put ourselves in front of a mirror, and accepted the reality. After that we worked, moved forward.

‘We are the leaders, but Liverpool have a game (in hand).’ Guardiola was then asked how his City side rated alongside his all-conquering Barcelona team and he added: ‘We won much, much more (at Barcelona).

‘But, in spite of the titles, the desire to do their best and respect for where they are is incredible. That is quite similar, but I don’t want to compare.’

Sarri (pictured) admitted he is under severe pressure, with the Blues now sixth, and when quizzed over his future, he said: ‘I don’t know, you have to ask the club. I am worried about my team, I am worried about the performance but my job is always at risk.’

Spurs remain in the title hunt after beating Leicester 3-1 at Wembley and manager Mauricio Pochettino said of his side: ‘I am proud.’
