THE NUTCRACKER is returning to London’s Royal Albert Hall this Christmas — with complex social distancing measures in place because of Covid-19.
As well as capping numbers to ensure the audience is socially distanced, bosses will be limiting contact between the dancers.
Two Birmingham Royal Ballet casts of 35 will stay in separate bubbles that never overlap on stage. A third back-up cast including students from BRB’s feeder school, Elmhurst School of Ballet, will step in if needed.
The show is directed by Carlos Acosta, with narration by actor Simon Callow, while Tchaikovsky’s score will be played live by the Royal Ballet Sinfonia. Tickets go on general sale tomorrow for shows from December 30 to January 2.
