5,000 bikers join PC Andrew Harper’s widow in ‘ride of respect’

THE widow of PC Andrew Harper has led a procession of around 5,000 motorcyclists in a ‘ride of respect’ in his memory.

Lissie Harper, whose husband was killed in the line of duty four weeks after they married, was the passenger on his motorcycle, ridden by her brother Jake Beckett, for the 15-mile journey from RAF Benson to Abingdon Airfield in Oxfordshire yesterday.

An RAF Benson spokesman added: ‘There were motorcycles as far as the eye can see.’ More than £16,000 was raised for charities.

The 28-year-old Thames Valley officer was killed after being dragged under a van on August 15 near Sulhamstead in Berkshire.

A man aged 18 and two 17-year-old boys have been charged with murder.
